[SPECIAL COACH SHOUT OUT] Parents and players, please join me and the entire club in giving a big HIGH FIVE to COACH CRISTIAN for being a part of the #STVA family.

Coach Cristian has an extensive background in volleyball, having served as a volunteer assistant at Texas Tech from 2016-2018 and being heavily involved in daily pin operations. Since 2019, he has been proudly associated with STVA, where he played club volleyball during his formative years. Currently, he serves as the recruiting coordinator for STVA.

In 2022, he led his team to secure a fourth-place finish at Lone Star Classic in the USA division and fifth place at Nationals in 16 American. Furthermore, in 2023, his 17's were crowned as the Lone Star Classic 17 Liberty Champions.

Through his experiences and accomplishments, he has honed his skills as a confident leader who can motivate and inspire team members to give their best performance. He is driven to help players achieve their maximum potential and take pride in seeing them succeed both on and off the court.

We are excited to have Coach Cristian as Head Coach of #15Mizuno the upcoming 2023-24 #CompetitiveVolleyball season at STVA. We appreciate having him on board and the vast experience he brings to South Texas Volleyball Academy.

Thank you, Eddie Dahl Jr. and STVA family

Let's get to know Coach Cristian!

What are your coaching qualities?

First and foremost, I am a relationship-based coach. The sooner I can get my athletes to understand I truly care and for lack of better words "would run through a wall for them", the sooner I can get them to do the same both for me and for their teammates. Secondly, I am extremely analytical and ask my athletes a ton of questions. I prefer to get some sort of answer out of them to keep them engaged and thinking about "why" they did something. Most people do see me as quiet and reserved (which is accurate), however while coaching the feedback never stops and the in-game celebrations are often imitated..

What are your expectations from your athletes?

The standard I set for my athletes is high. From my experience seeing what it takes to get to the next level as both a player and a coach, my first goal is to get athletes to understand that every touch in a practice/lesson/game has a specific purpose. Once this mentality is established, the work ethic, drive, and commitment to wanting to get better follows.

What is your coaching motto?

Control the controllable. My athletes hear this from me all the time - control what you can control, take care of your own job, and trust that your teammates will do the same

What’s a fun fact about you?

Was a part of the first boys' team from Texas to qualify for nationals in the open division. Was a part of the U19 beach national team in 2014. My wife is technically my boss..
